Is ASP a better solution?
By: Amanda Knapp On: April 13, 2010
Most of the people who are reading this article don’t have really an idea what is an ASP. Let me highlight on that first. An application service provider (ASP) provides computer-based services to customers over a network on remotely bases. ASP is best for small to medium sized organization. It reduces the cost and complexities like its distribution, upgrading, 24/7 technical support, privacy and security issues because your service provider will handle all that which gave you flexible working. It has helped out many practitioners and health organizations.
Doctors and physician always encounter problems while submitting claims and payments. To dispense this burden most of the physicians outsource their medical billing for rest ASP is the solution. It works as a part of their practice management software and connects it electronically to most of the payers. Complex tasks such as communication between insurance company, clinical information management, data analysis and reporting become easier to handle.
The adoption of ASPs has been raised vigorously over the past years because of its low primary cost. You don’t even have to worry about the latest release of the software because your service provider is responsible for handling that as well. You can even divide the cost of the software into variable monthly installments instead of one time large payment. This has enabled the opportunity for undercapitalized health sectors to get services form them else they won’t be able to afford it.
ASP’s provide and ensure electronic security and privacy and follow the regulations of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA). It provides your organization financial stability. Most of the claims are normally delayed because of errors but if you use ASPs then these error rates will be lowered and it also reduces the turnaround time for claims.
In short there is no downside of ASP’s
